Our Ministry

Prayer Ministry

There are multiple ways to become involved in Prayer Ministry. We form Prayer Partnerships, write notes of prayer and encouragement, and visit with our home-bound and hospitalized members. To ask for prayers or to become involved in this important ministry, please contact the office.

Eucharistic Visitors

A special group within this ministry is the Eucharistic Visitor, a lay person authorized to take the Consecrated Elements following a celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, are unable to be present at the Celebration.

Stream Team

We are connected in Christ in so many ways and our Livestream Team is the connection between worlds – bringing our church services to those that are not able to be with us physically on Sundays. We are a congregation linked across the digital network and worship as one. If you are interested in learning more about this vital, fun, and growing ministry, contact the office.

Prayer Chain

Members of the church offer prayers on behalf of those who request them via the Prayer Chain and in our Prayer List on Sundays To ask for prayers or to become involved in this important ministry, please contact the office.

Soup Kitchen

Supporting those experiencing food insecurity in our community is in the very DNA of the Episcopal Church of the Atonement. We serve at the Westfield Soup Kitchen each 4th Sunday of the month. You may help by preparing food, delivering it to the Kitchen, and serving. Contact Ray and Teddi Brown to find out how you can help.

Finance Ministry Team

Do you have a head for numbers and enjoy tackling a challenge? Well, our Finance Team is the place for you! This ministry team assists the Vestry with budget analysis, planning, visioning, and forecasting. It’s work that is proactive and creative. To get involved reach out to Rev. Sandi.

Eucharistic Ministers

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM) serve in the faith and belief in the Resurrected Christ as they administer the Consecrated Elements to the people of Christ at a Celebration of Holy Eucharist. A Lay Eucharistic Minister needs to be a confirmed communicant in good standing, at least sixteen years old, approved by the Vestry and be certified by the Bishop.

Lectors

The reading of Holy Scripture is an anchor of our liturgy.  Our Church’s lectionary appoints a lesson from the Hebrew Scriptures, a psalm, an epistle from the New Testament and a reading from one of the four Gospels for every Sunday and holy day in the church year.

Altar & Flower Guild

The Altar Guild members are responsible for preparing the church sanctuary for the celebration of Holy Eucharist, baptisms, weddings, memorial services/funerals, and other religious observances. The Guild cares for the altar linens and vessels used during services, the clergy vestments, and our beautiful altar hangings and assists with the many ways the church is prepared for any service.
